“Go, ye!”: our daily ministry

2016 Wednesdays in Lent

I created this liturgy for Wednesday Lenten evening prayer for St. Matthew Lutheran Church, Davenport, Iowa,. The theme was based on the sign visible when exiting worship at St. Matthew's: "Go ye, teach, preach, and baptize" (see above).

My sermons for each week are linked below. I made use of the great work of others, especially:

Dave Daubert, Luther’s Priesthood of Believers: A Simple Model for the 21st Century

Dwight DuBois, The Scattering: Imagining a Church that Connects Faith and Life

I encourage you to check them out too.

St. Matthew’s mission statement

"By reaching out to others in Christian love, we are striving to be a beacon of God's love, hope and hospitality."

Daily Prayer

Lord Jesus, just like you did with your first 12 disciples, you made me a beacon of your love, hope, and hospitality. You sent me here today to reach out to people in love. Help me trust you. Show me your opportunities to act with grace. Give me your words of life to speak. Strengthen me to love who you sent me here to love. Amen.
